Safety Glass Films

When glass breaks, unprotected panes shatter into dangerous fragments. Safety films hold the glass together, significantly reducing the risk of injury from breakage.

Safety films are applied to existing glass to reinforce its behaviour on impact. In the event of breakage — from accidental impact, storm damage, or attempted forced entry — the film holds glass fragments in place rather than allowing them to scatter. This significantly reduces the risk of laceration injuries and makes forced entry through glass more time-consuming.

Key benefits

  • Holds glass fragments together on impact
  • Reduces injury risk from accidental breakage
  • Increases time required for forced entry through glass
  • Suitable for windows and glass doors not meeting current safety standards
  • Can satisfy safety glazing requirements as a retrofit measure
  • Optically clear — no visible change to the glazing

Typical applications

  • Schools and nurseries
  • Hospitals and clinics
  • Public buildings
  • Ground-floor retail
  • Residential doors and low-level glazing
  • Sports facilities

⚠ Safety film does not convert standard glass to laminated or toughened glass. For compliance with specific safety glazing standards, we recommend consulting a structural glazing specialist. Refer to the manufacturer's official technical datasheets.
